Tips to Make Your Child Happy and Eager to Learn

Has your child ever said this 5 minutes before the English class begins…

“I want to play outside with Katie/ watch Paw Patrol/ draw/(fill in the gap).” try the following tricks to get them in the mood for learning.

Tip 1: Thematic Snacks

Prepare some snacks that give your child “superpower” to learn.

Here are some healthy snack ideas that are related to American culture:

– trail mix

-seasonal  fruit kebab or fruit bars

– healthy cookies

– mini hot-dogs

-rice cake with peanut butter

-granola

Tip 2: Play Your Child’s Favorite English Song

If your child has been learning English for a while, I bet he /she has a favorite song that always does the trick. This is a classic trick that always works. If you don’t have any song ideas, send me a message and I am glad to help.

Tip 3: Create a Dedicated Learning Space Without Distractions

Don’t let the little sister roam around playing Elza and singing “Let it goooo” (if you know Frozen, you know what I mean)….or it might be daddy eating his dinner in the background listening to the news with no T-shirt on. (both instances are based on a true story)

If you have the time and resources, you can even create an “English Corner” at home with posters or toys related to English learning.

Tip 4: Dress Up for the English class!

Let your child wear a thematic baseball cap, jersey, skirt or tiara. Not only does it make them feel like the coolest student, but they can also talk about it to their teacher at the beginning of the lesson and can’t wait to start learning English.

Let’s learn from the kids!

This might be a wild idea, but you can even try these tricks if you feel low on energy before the English class. Okay, maybe not the unicorn tiara, but I personally wouldn’t even mind that. Whatever makes learning fun and enjoyable.

I hope my tips were useful for you, all of them are tested and working really well. If you have more questions about how you can help your child learn English, don’t hesitate to reach out.
